Product Description
IDOL: Lord parashvanatha , also called as parshva is the 23rd Tirthankara of Jainism. He is known as the reviver and propagator of Jainism. Lord parshvanatha is the first Jain Tirthankara to be widely recognized as a historical figure. He is associated with serpents and is always depicted with a canopy of snake hoods over his head in sculpture and painting. Parshvanatha established the “fourfold restraint,” the four vows taken by his followers (not to take life, steal, lie, or own property) that, with Mahavira’s edition of the vow of celibacy, became the five “great vows” (mahavratas) of Jain ascetics. While Parshvanatha allowed monks to wear upper and lower garments, Mahavira gave up on clothing altogether.
